Our welcome
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
St John’s is a place of hospitality, where all are welcomed. It is our aim to ensure that whoever enters our church feels the warmth of friendship, and the opportunity to meet with God in a place where they feel comfortable.
This may mean sitting in a place that is tucked away to one side, or near the toilet, or sat close to the door for a quick escape. We are happy to move chairs to make more space for pushchairs or wheelchairs. Just let us know how we can help you to feel more comfortable and safer and we will do what we can to achieve this.
Accessibility
Our church has a hearing loop, and we have large print service and hymn books, as well as large print notice sheets if you would find this helpful.
The church pillars have screens on them to improve visibility for those sat in the side pews, as well as a large screen at the front.
If there is anything that we can do to make your visit more comfortable please do let us know or contact us in advance to discuss your needs.
Our services
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.
At St John’s we believe that faith and relationship with God should not be restricted to Sundays alone, but to every day of the week. That being said, Sundays are the time when we come together, as His family on earth, to place Father, Son, and Holy Spirit at the centre of our prayers, our worship, our learning.
We have three weekly services at St John’s:
10:30am
This service follows a 4-week pattern.
- 1st Sunday: family service for everyone with the worship band
- 2nd Sunday: holy communion (children and youth go to Junior Church)
- 3rd Sunday: morning worship (children and youth go to Junior Church)
- 4th Sunday: holy communion with the worship band (children and youth go to Junior Church)
- 5th Sunday: holy communion for everyone.
The 10.30 service is followed by coffee in church.
St John’s @ 6.30
This is an informal teaching service with the worship band, at which we serve coffee and refreshment before the service from 6pm.
Tuesday 10.30am
This is a spoken communion service, followed by coffee in church.
